Princeton



Princeton (pop. 25,718), borough and township in central New Jersey, site of Princeton University, Princeton Theological Seminary, and the Institute for Advanced Study. The region was settled by Quakers in 1696. In 1777 it was the scene of a Revolutionary War battle in which George Washington defeated British forces. The Continental Congress met in Princeton for 5 months in 1783.
