Prejudice

Prejudice, opinions and attitudes formed by individuals or groups about other individuals or groups, usually without ample sustaining evidence. Most forms of prejudice are unfavorable or even hostile, based on fears or preconceived notions against a religious, ethnic, or national group. Extreme forms have resulted in persecution or acts of violence by one group of people against another. Prejudice can be overcome or eliminated through openmindedness, understanding, education, and interaction with groups or individuals targeted for discrimination.
