Prayer book

Prayer book, collection of commonly used prayers in Judeo-Christian religious services. They contain statements of doctrine, ordinances, and explanations of the sacraments, in addition to prayers. The Church of England developed its Book of Common Prayer in 1549 and other Christian faiths have devised similar concepts. Prayer books are also widely used in Jewish temple (synagogue) services and ceremonies.
