Poerty

Poerty, shortage of income or resources necessary for a minimum standard of living in a particular society. In the United States, where a poor minority exists in the midst of an affluent society, a major element in poverty is the feeling of psychological deprivation. In the poor countries of Asia, Africa, and Latin America, where the poor constitute a majority of the people, poverty consists more of physical deprivation, but even in the third world the economic expectations of the poor have been substantially raised by exposure to the mass media.
