Poseidon



Poseidon, in Greek mythology, god of the sea. The son of Cronus and Rhea and brother of Zeus, Poseidon was also the god of horses, earthquakes, and sea storms. He was often pictured with a long white beard driving a chariot and wielding a trident with which he stirred up the earth or sea when venting his wrath. His Roman counterpart was Neptune.
