Pork

Pork, pig flesh used for food. Pork may be eaten cooked. It may also be cured with salt and then smoked or dried. Smoking and drying cured pork prevents the meat from spoiling, and gives it an added flavor. Ham and bacon are cured pork. Pork may contain small worms that, when consumed, create a disease called trichinosis. Fresh pork should always be thoroughly cooked until the meat becomes gray—this kills any worms that may be in it.
