Poodle



Poodle, breed of intelligent dogs. Poodles have curly hair that can be trimmed in various styles. Their coats are of one solid color, and can be white, black, gray, brown, orange, or blue. There are three varieties of poodles. The toy poodle has a shoulder height of up to 10 in (25.4 cm) and weighs up to 6 lbs (2.7 kg). The miniature poodle has a shoulder height of 10 to 15 in (25 to 38.1 cm) and weighs 14 to 16 lbs (6.4 to 7.3 kg). The standard poodle has a shoulder height of over 15 in (38.1 cm) and weighs 40 to 60 lbs (18.1 to 27 kg). Poodles originated in Germany and were once used to retrieve game. However, they are no longer hunting dogs.
