Pondweed

Pondweed, name for freshwater plants (genus Potamogeton) that sometimes clog streams and ponds. Their leaves may lie flat on the surface of the water or be completely submerged. The sago pondweed has branching stems and hairlike leaves. Like all pondweeds, its flowers open above the water. Its fruits are an important food for migrating ducks.
