Polish Corridor

Polish Corridor, strip of Polish land about 25–65 mi (40–105 km) wide and 90 mi (145 km) long. Formerly German, it was granted to Poland in 1919 to give it access to the Baltic Sea. The predominantly German port of Danzig (now Gdansk) adjoining the corridor was declared a free city. The separation of East Prussia from the rest of Germany by the corridor precipitated the German invasion of Poland (1939).
