Pocatello



Pocatello (pop. 46,340), city in southeast Idaho. Located in a rich agricultural area, it is the market center and shipping point for livestock and farm products. Its industries include phosphate mining, cement, steel, dairy products, and animal feed. Pocatello was founded in 1882 when it became a railroad center. Its proximity to attractions such as Caribou National Forest, Yellowstone National Park, and Harriman State Park, to name a few, makes it a much-visited tourist site. Idaho State University is situated there.
