Plover



Plover, common name for various small or medium-sized wading birds of the family Charadriidae, which includes the lapwings and the true plovers. Most plovers have an olive or brown back, with lighter underparts. Typically they have a dark band across the belly and a white band on a black head. Plovers feed on insects or crustacea in mud and sand.
