Plecoptera

Plecoptera, or stonefly, order of insects that lays eggs in water. When the young hatch, they live along the rocky edges of ponds, lakes, and streams. Although adults have wings, they are poor fliers and so tend to live on rocks near the water. Larvae and adults constitute a large percentage of the diet of freshwater fish.
