Pitcairn Island



Pitcairn Island, British colony (2 sq mi/4 sq km) in the Pacific Ocean midway between New Zealand and Panama, famous as the uninhabited island settled by Bounty mutineers and Tahitian women (1790). Its present English-speaking islanders are descended from them.
