Pink bollworm



Pink bollworm, small, dark-brown moth (Pectinophora gossypiella) of the gelechiid moth family. The larvae dig into cotton plants, on which they feed, destroying the plants. The adult develops within a cocoon inside or near the cotton plant. Introduced into the Americas at the beginning of the 20th century, the pink bollworm has caused serious problems for farmers.
