Pimento

Pimento, tree (Pimenta officinalis) of the myrtle family whose small berry-like fruit is used to make the spice allspice. The pimento is native to the Caribbean island of Jamaica. It grows 20–40 ft (6–12 m) tall; the small black fruits appear on the slender top branches. When dried, these fruit become allspice. This tree should not be confused with the red pepper commonly called pimento or pimiento.
