Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie



Petrie, Sir William Matthew Flinders (1853–1942), English archeologist and Egyptologist. As a result of his system of sequence dating, a relative chronology could thus be established between sites and dates attributed to the superimposed layers of a site. In 1894 he founded the British School of Archaeology in Egypt.
