Petoskey stone

Petoskey stone, fossilized coral and state stone of Michigan, found outside the town of Petoskey. Valued by mineral collectors, Petoskey stones reveal a 6-sided shape with a pattern of lines radiating from the center. The column-shaped formation of this coral is the result of the actions of natural forces on deposited limestone over 350 million years.
