Persimmon

Persimmon, any of several trees (genus Diospyros) of the ebony family. These trees are grown especially for their fruit of the same name. The kaki persimmon (D. kaki), produced for commercial purposes, is native to Asia, while the common persimmon (D. virginiana) is native to the United States. When ripe, persimmon fruit is sweet, with a wrinkled or brown-streaked reddish-orange skin.
