Periodontitis



Periodontitis, or pyorrhea alveolaris, disease of the gums and bones surrounding the teeth. Caused by inadequate hygiene or nutrition, periodontitis is symptomized by inflamed, bleeding, or receding gums and loose teeth. It may be treated by plaque removal or oral surgery.
