Pepper



Pepper (Capsicum frutescens), woody plant of the family Solanaceae; also, its edible fruit. Commercial garden, or bell, peppers are grown in warm regions of the United States. Red peppers are widely distributed and have been cultivated since pre-Incan times. They include the mild peppers grown and dried for paprika and pungent Chili peppers. Garden peppers are also marketed as unripe green peppers.
