Peony



Peony, cultivated member of the buttercup family (genus Paeonia) with large showy blossoms. Most peonies are herbaceous plants that sprout new stems each year, but the tree peony (P. suffricosa) has a woody trunk that grows to 5 ft (1.5 m).
