Passionflower

Passionflower, any of a group of tropical climbing plants (genus Passiflora) grown for the juice of their berries and for their ornate flowers. The name is derived from the religious symbolism attributed to the flowers: the 3 stigmatas are considered to represent the Holy Trinity, while the hairy corona recalls the crown of thorns. The 5 petals and sepals represent the 10 Apostles present at the Crucifixion.
