Parsis

Parsis, or Parsees, religious group centered in Bombay and northwest India, followers of Zoroastrianism. Numbering about 120,000 today, their ancestors came from Persia in the 8th century to escape Muslim persecution. The Parsis, many of whom are traders, are among the wealthiest and best educated groups in India. They revere aspects of nature, especially fire, as manifestations of Ahura Mazdah (the divinity).
