Vernon Louis Parrington

Parrington, Vernon Louis (1871–1929), U.S. educator and literary historian. He stressed the influence of social and economic affairs on American writers and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his Main Currents in American Thought (3 vols.; 1927–30).
