Parent

Parent, biological or social father or mother. Biological parents are those from whose egg and sperm cells the individual was produced. The genetic make-up of the parents is passed on to the offspring, resulting in various combinations of inherited physical and mental traits. Social parents, who may or may not be biological parents, are those who care for the child.
