Philippus Aureolus Paracelsus



Paracelsus, Philippus Aureolus (1493?–1541), Swiss alchemist and physician who channeled the arts of alchemy into the preparation of medical remedies. Born Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim, he adopted the name Paracelsus, boasting that he was superior to the renowned first-century Roman medical writer Celsus.
