Papago

Papago, name for North American Native American tribe of southern Arizona and northwestern Sonora, Mexico, related to the Pimas. They rebelled unsuccessfully against the Spanish (1695 and 1751) and in the 1860s joined the U.S. government against the Apaches. Crops and cattle raising remain their primary economic activities, along with income from leases to their mineral-bearing lands.
