Panmunjom



Panmunjom, village in the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea, where the truce to end the Korean War was negotiated (1951–53) and signed (July 27, 1953). The joint security area was partitioned in 1976 by North Korea and the UN command after the killing of 2 U.S. soldiers by the North Koreans.
