Pan American Union



Pan American Union, organization of independent states of North and South America founded in 1910. Its stated purpose was to foster economic, political, and social cooperation among member nations. When the Organization of American States (OAS) was founded in 1948, the Pan American Union became its central office. In 1970 the Union was renamed the General Secretariat of the OAS.
