Paloverde



Paloverde, any of a genus (Cercidium) of small trees of the pea family native to the southwestern United States and other hot, dry regions of the Americas. A yellow-flowering tree that loses its small leaves in the spring, it gets its name (Spanish, “green tree”) from its smooth green bark. The beanlike seeds were an important food for Native Americans.
