Orthodontics



Orthodontics, in dentistry, correction or prevention of the arrangement or number of teeth in people and animals. Procedures include tooth extractions and using metal or plastic braces and wires to adjust unaligned teeth, a problem which usually occurs during childhood as the teeth develop. These abnormalities in teeth position are called maloclusions.
