Olympias



Olympias (375?–316 B.C.), powerful, influential wife of Philip II of Macedonia, whom she had killed to secure the throne for her son, Alexander the Great. Upon his death in 323 B.C., she tried to ensure the dominion for her grandson, Alexander IV, but failed and was executed when Cassander came to power.
