Olympiad



Olympiad, ancient Greek method of figuring a 4-year calendar time period. The Olympiad was set in conjunction with the first full moon after the longest day of the year and fell between consecutive Olympic Games. After 304 Olympiads, this way of telling time ceased (c.A.D. 440).
