Okefenokee Swamp



Okefenokee Swamp, warm, boggy, unsettled region in southeastern Georgia and somewhat into northeastern Florida, covering 700 sq mi (1,800 sq km). A recreation wetland for people, 460 sq mi (1,200 sq km) are designated a wildlife area. Protected are alligators, 50 kinds of fish, countless variations of birds and animals, and lush vegetation on many small islands.
