Clifford Odets

Odets, Clifford (1906–63), U.S. playwright and screenwriter noted for social-protest dramas about ordinary people in the Depression. A leading figure in the Group Theatre in New York City, his works include Waiting for Lefty (1935), Awake and Sing! (1935), and Golden Boy (1937).
