Nymph

Nymph, in Greek mythology, female divinity normally considered the guardian of an object or place occurring in nature. Nymphs were depicted as beautiful young women and were named according to the geographic features with which they were associated. Naiads, for example, watched over brooks, rivers, and other bodies of fresh water; nereids were identified with the sea, dryads with trees, and oreads with mountains.
