Nutria

Nutria, large South American water rodent (Myocastor coypus), also found in the Mississippi Delta, raised commercially in Europe and North America for its reddish-brown fur, which resembles that of the beaver or muskrat. Because it feeds on water plants, it is considered a threat to the ecology. It is also known to destroy certain crops.
