Numidia



Numidia, ancient region of northern Africa, generally corresponding to present-day Algeria. The Numidian chieftain Massinisa helped the Romans defeat the Carthaginians in the Second and Third Punic wars in the 3rd and 2nd centuries B.C. Julius Ceasar later turned Numidia into a Roman province.
