Antonín Novotny



Novotny, Antonín (1904–75), president of Czechoslovakia (1957–68) and communist leader. As a Stalinist and supporter of Moscow, Novotny fell from power after years of economic stagnation and political unrest. He was succeeded by a liberal regime led by Alexander Dubek and others.
