Norwegian

Norwegian, language of Norway, developed from the Norse and influenced by union with Denmark (1397–1814). There are 2 official versions: Nynorsk or Landsmäl, based on native dialects, and Bokmäl or Riksmäl, a Dano-Nor-wegian used by city dwellers, writers, and the press. Differences between them are diminishing.
