Nonaggression pact

Nonaggression pact, agreement between nations to reconcile differences without the use of force. After World War I, many nations signed nonaggression pacts, most of which were violated during World War II. The pacts became obsolete in 1945, when the United Nations became the forum for peaceful solutions to international conflicts. However, the UN has not resolved whether only military attacks are acts of aggression or if such acts include hostile economic policies and seditious propaganda as well.
