Nirvana



Nirvana, Sanskrit term used in Buddhism, Jainism, and Hinduism to denote the highest state of existence, reached when all bodily desires have been quelled and the self is free to dissolve into the ocean of peace, or God. It means literally extinguished, denoting freedom from ego. Nirvana is the final escape from the cycle of rebirth.
