Birgit Nilsson

Nilsson, Birgit (1918– ), Swedish soprano, widely regarded as the greatest Wagnerian soprano of her time. She is famed as Brünnhilde in Der Ring des Nibelungen but is also known for her roles in Giacomo Puccini's Turandot and Richard Strauss' Elektra.
