Nighthawk



Nighthawk, bullbat, or mosquito hawk (Chordeiles minor), nocturnal, insect-eating bird in the goatsucker family (Caprimulgidae), not a true hawk. It measures approximately 10 in (25 cm) long, with white wing bars and a white throat patch on a mottled brown, black, and white body. Nighthawks reside in South America during the winter and the United States and Canada for the rest of the year.
