New Frontier

New Frontier, collective name for the policies of the administration of President John F. Kennedy, derived from his acceptance speech after winning the Democratic nomination in 1960, when he said that the nation stood on “the edge of a new frontier.” Characteristic New Frontier programs aimed at space exploration, improved science education, extension of civil-rights protections, and better medical care for the elderly.
