Nelson River



Nelson River, longest river (400 mi/640 km) in Manitoba, Canada. Flowing northeast from Lake Winnipeg to Hudson Bay at Port Nelson, it is the outlet for the Winnipeg, Red, and Saskatchewan river systems, and for lakes Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Winnipegosis. Once the transportation route of fur traders, it now provides hydroelectric power at Kelsey Rapids.
