Barbizon school



Barbizon school, informal group of French painters of natural and rural subjects, active c.1830–70, who frequented the village of Barbizon, near Paris. It included Théodore Rousseau, Narciso Diaz de la Peña, Jean-Baptise Corot, Jean François Millet, Jules Dupré, Constant Troyon, and Charles Daubigny.
