Balance of power



Balance of power, system of international relations wherein nations alter their alliances to other nations so no single nation dominates. Sincer World War II, the United States and the former Soviet Union have emerged as superpowers, but Japan and China may, by virtue of size and military-industrial potential, demand a radically altered balance of power.
