Badlands National Park



Badlands National Park, some 243,302 acres (98,461 hectares) of badlands in southwestern South Dakota. It comprises barren ravines, ridges of multicolored shale, fossiled sandstone, and wildlife. A national monument since 1929, the area was renamed a national park in 1978.
