Bacon's Rebellion



Bacon's Rebellion, uprising in colonial Virginia, 1676, led by planter Nathaniel Bacon against the governor, Sir William Berkeley. Bacon led unauthorized forces against the Native Americans. Though denounced as a traitor, he briefly controlled the Jamestown colony. The civil war between his and Berkeley's forces ended shortly after Bacon's death from malaria.
